UNDERSTANDING SHAKESPEARE
A five-week online course beginning Wednesday, September 17th at 5pm PT
This workshop is geared toward giving you the tools and concepts needed to read and understand the work of William Shakespeare.
If you’ve ever felt like the language in Shakespeare’s plays has gone totally over your head, this is the class for you. We will focus on three main components – verse, antithesis, argument – that are crucial to unlocking Shakespeare’s work, giving you the confidence needed to read and enjoy these plays on your own. The class will revolve around the analysis of scenes and monologues from two of Shakespeare’s most beloved plays; Twelfth Night and Richard III.
In order to successfully grasp the language and concepts, without all the pressure, this class will require your participation. Think of it as a hybrid English seminar and theatre workshop, with intellectual and practical approaches to the text.
Below you will be able to purchase the course and there is an add on option to get copies of the plays at a 30% discount from LA based bookstore, Reparations Club. Shipping is included. All play purchases are nonrefundable. If you purchase books with the course you will get Pelican Shakespeare editions, if you prefer to purchase the plays on your own, you do not need to get the same edition, a diversity of translations are welcome.
